Jordan's Ministry of Education and the Information Technology Association of Jordan, int@j, plan to draw up a framework to identify fields of cooperation in the IT sector, according to the Jordan Times.
Int@j chairman Karim Kawar told the Amman-based paper that the two parties would cooperate mainly on software development. “We want to take our cooperation to higher levels,” said Kawar.
At a meeting late on Thursday, the heads of several departments at the ministry were briefed on the REACH initiative, a joint private-public sector effort that aims to create 30,000 IT-related jobs, achieve $550 million in annual exports and attract $150 million in direct foreign investment by 2004.
During the meeting, Education Minister Khalid Touqan said the plan to computerize the teaching of English, math and science was set to start next year, requiring “a true and effective partnership” between the ministry and the private sector, according to the daily – Albawaba.com
