A member of the Islamic Jihad movement was declared clinically dead after an attempt on his life by Israeli forces, said reports.
They said that Imad Abu Diab, 25, was “seriously injured” while opening his car door in the West Bank City of Tulkarem, according to Al Jazeera satellite channel
A passerby, who was not identified, received less serious injuries in the incident.
The Israeli online news site, Y.net, cited Palestinian sources as accusing Israel of attempting to assassinate the activist.
The Israeli army, according to the news service, denied any involvement in the incident, saying the “ soldiers keep on fulfilling the ceasefire conditions.”
This is the second assassination attempt by the Israeli forces after Israel and the Palestinian Authority declared a cease-fire.
A member of the Palestinian Fateh faction died on June 7 after his car came under fire two days earlier in the northern West Bank. The attack was described as an Israeli assassination attempt.
