Jazeera Airways, the Middle East’s first private passenger airline, today announced it will begin flights to Sharm El Sheikh starting February 1 2007. Jazeera Airways will fly direct twice a week from Kuwait to the resort city, operating brand new Airbus A320s all fitted with leather seats.

The airline’s Chairman and CEO, Marwan Boodai said, “This is exciting news for Sharm el Sheikh lovers in Kuwait who have long complained of the lack of direct flights and new aircraft to the resort city. Starting today they will be able to book to Sharm El Sheikh, and seats will be selling fast with its sizzling beaches and our hot fares.

The airline’s website jazeeraairways.com now offers an enhanced online travel solution where travellers can book, pay and reserve their seats online and even change their booking right up to three hours before flight. Travelers can alternatively book their tickets through the customer support call centres in their cities or through their chosen travel agents.

Launched in October 2005, Jazeera Airways operates a fleet of new Airbus A320 aircraft all fitted with leather seats, and has maintained an on-time performance of 93% throughout 2006. Jazeera Airways serves 14 of the most popular destinations for both business and leisure in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent.

Jazeera Airways is a Kuwait Public Shareholding Company established in 2004 (operated in 2005) with a capital of KD 10 million raised through one of the most successful IPOs in Kuwait's history, making it the only privately owned airline in the Middle East. Based on a low fare business model that maximizes across-the-board efficiency in operations, Jazeera Airways enables travelers to fly without a ticket and book through the web, giving travelers more independence, spontaneity, and fares up to 50% lesser than the market.

Jazeera Airways, which took its first flight on October 30, 2005, operates a fleet of new Airbus A320 aircraft and serves some of the most popular destinations for both business and leisure in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent, including Dubai, Beirut, Bahrain, Damascus, Aleppo, Amman, Alexandria, Luxor, Mumbai, New Delhi, Mashhad, Assiut, and Cochin. Travelers are able to book via jazeeraairways.com or through travel agents to receive a booking reference number for easy, ticket-free check in.
