ALBAWABA - The National News Agency (NNA) of Lebanon said Thursday that Israeli military patrols had entered the southern Lebanese town of Beit Lif, which lies in the Bint Jbeil area of Nabatieh Governorate, for the first time and searched homes one by one.
Israeli commandos reportedly broke into houses close to the towns of Ramyah and Al-Qouzah, the NNA said. According to earlier accounts, an Israeli patrol moved into the outskirts of Beit Lif with the assistance of Merkava tanks, armored vehicles, and a bulldozer. Given that the Israeli army had not yet arrived in this region during its ground operations, which were started in October 2023, this represents a major escalation.
Despite a peace deal between Israel and Lebanon that has been in force since November 27, 2023, the invasion still takes place. The deal came after a military escalation that started on October 8, 2023, when Hezbollah and the Israeli forces engaged in gunfire exchanges, which then escalated into a larger confrontation.
Along with low-altitude Israeli warplane and surveillance drone flights over Beirut, its southern suburbs, and the Tyre region, the NNA also claimed Israeli artillery fire in the Al-Rumiya area between Beit Lif and Yater.
According to Lebanese authorities, Israel has broken the ceasefire 344 times, as the Anadolu Agency pointed out. 32 people have been killed and 39 injured as a consequence of these activities, which have been characterized as attempts to counter Hezbollah threats.
