ALBAWABA- Israeli drone strikes continued to pound southern Lebanon on Tuesday, targeting civilian vehicles and wounding several people in what Lebanese officials condemned as a “dangerous escalation” and violation of recent ceasefire agreements.
The latest attack struck a small emergency vehicle traveling along a public road between the towns of Kafra and Seddiqin in the Tyre district, local sources said. Witnesses reported that the drone fired on the car without warning, injuring multiple occupants and setting the vehicle ablaze.
The incident follows a string of Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon in recent days. On Monday, an Israeli drone targeted a car near Wadi Jilou, close to Al-Bazourieh, east of Tyre, while another strike hit a parked vehicle between Tebnine and Haris in the Bint Jbeil district, wounding two civilians who were passing by.
These attacks come despite a fragile Gaza ceasefire, brokered on October 8 and formalized at the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit on October 13, which aimed to de-escalate regional hostilities.
While the truce focuses on Gaza’s reconstruction and Hamas’s disarmament, tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon have persisted, with Israel claiming to target militant positions and Beirut accusing it of systematic civilian strikes.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun denounced the latest assaults as “unjustified and provocative,” warning that they risk reigniting cross-border conflict. He noted that the strikes have damaged vital infrastructure, including highways and reconstruction sites, and violated the November 2024 ceasefire that ended over a year of fighting.
Since the Gaza truce took effect, Israel has reportedly carried out more than 20 operations inside Lebanon. On October 11, Israeli warplanes bombed the village of Qalaouiyeh, killing one civilian and wounding seven, while over the weekend, strikes in al-Najariya destroyed reconstruction equipment and killed another civilian.
Hezbollah has so far exercised restraint but vowed to respond if civilian casualties continue. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has condemned the repeated strikes, including one incident on October 10 in which a drone grenade landed near peacekeepers in Kafer Kela.
