ALBAWABA - According to reports, Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi may depart by February 2025, with Major General Eyal Zamir, Ministry of Defense Director-General, as a possible replacement. Maariv documented the continued aftermath from October 7's actions, which have severely affected Israel's military and political scene.

According to a top political source, Halevi may retire after Hamas' October 7 assault, which killed or captured hundreds of Israeli troops. Israel's worst military and intelligence disaster has sparked worldwide condemnation and responsibility.

Recently, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant ordered the probes to conclude by January 2025. Gallant said no new generals will be appointed until the probe is examined. This instruction has sparked Halevi's exit rumors.

Channel 12 said that Halevi had two main goals before resigning: ending the Lebanon war and exposing the October 7 probes to the military and public. These goals support army reputation rebuilding following the assaults.

The Israeli military and political elites consider Eyal Zamir a major contender to succeed Halevi. Zamir is the Ministry of Defense Director-General, a military veteran. His command might change the Israeli military.

The Israeli Army and Ministry of Defense deny any official Halevi resignation arrangement. "Contrary to reports, the Chief of Staff and Defense Minister have not reached a resignation agreement," they declared in a joint statement. These statements are false.”

As of yet, neither Halevi nor Zamir has reacted publicly, fueling conjecture regarding the Israeli military command transfer.
