Syria, together with other groups supporting attacks on Israel from Lebanese lands, must be held responsible for violence along the Israel-Lebanon border, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Moshe Ya'alon said Wednesday.
Tensions have been growing at the border this week after Palestinian fighters fired rockets at Israeli territorial waters from Lebanon, leading to firefights between Israel and Hizbullah.
Israel Radio quoted Ya'alon as saying the Israeli army will "not allow Hizbullah or Palestinian groups to launch attacks in the border area."
"We certainly hold anyone involved in [attacks from Lebanon] responsible," Ya'alon stated.
Ya'alon mentioned Syria's connection to the incidents along the border. He said the Syrians "make this reality possible, encourage it," and host Palestinian groups in Damascus. (Albawaba.com)
