ALBAWABA- Israeli airstrikes on eastern Lebanon have killed at least five people and wounded five others in the towns of Hermel and Al-Labweh, according to a preliminary toll announced by Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health on Monday.
Al-Mayadeen reported that at least 12 raids struck areas across the Bekaa Valley and Hermel, leaving three people injured—one in critical condition. The attacks mark one of the heaviest Israeli bombardments in the region in recent weeks.
In the south, Israeli forces also opened machine-gun fire from Ruwaysat al-Alam towards the outskirts of Kafr Shuba, escalating cross-border tensions further.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the strikes, accusing Israel of violating the cessation of hostilities and threatening Lebanon’s sovereignty.
UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, confirmed it is working closely with the Lebanese army to reinforce stability, highlighting that with its support, Lebanese forces have redeployed across more than 120 positions in southern Lebanon in line with UN Resolution 1701.
