A decision was reached on Tuesday by Israel's interim government to refrain from immediate and major military reprisals against the Palestinian Authority in the wake of the Tel Aviv bombing on Monday.
Instead, “limited action,” according to Haaretz, was decided upon.
"Israel will exercise its inherent right of self-defense and will take the necessary steps to protect its citizens from Palestinian terror," said David Baker, an official in Olmert’s office.
Among the steps decided upon by the Israeli government in response to the bombing are stricter implementation of the separation the West Bank into sections to prevent Palestinians from moving from one section to another and continued assassinations of sPalestinians deemed dangerous to Israelis.
In addition, military patrols and arrest operations in the West Bank will be expanded, along with efforts to expel Palestinians living in Israel illegally, while closure of Palestinian territories will continues.
Olmert to revoke Israeli residency of Hamas parliament members
Israeli officials also decided to revoke Israeli residency status of three Hamas officials living in East Jerusalem.
The permits are highly prized, as they allow those holding them unhindered access to Jerusalem.
The Hamas MP’s currently hold such status.
Palestinians call for Abbas apology
Meanwhile, Palestinian groups demanded that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas apologize for condemning Monday's bombing in Tel Aviv.
The criticism was the harshest yet voice from Palestinians against their president.
Abbas had said Monday that the attack, which killed nine people, was hurtful to Palestinians interests.
