Israeli troops apprehended a Palestinian man wearing an explosive belt at the A-Zaim roadblock on the road between Ma'ale Adumim settlement and French Hill in Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Haaretz, initial investigations indicate that the driver of the bus on the route leading between Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim settlement, became suspicious about the man and alerted the Border Policemen at the roadblock.
The troops then boarded the bus and restrained the man after a brief fight, handcuffing and isolating him.
A police spokesman stated the bomb was defused by police experts. He said it was not clear whether the man had intended to blow himself up or was planning to plant the bomb.
The spokesman provided no details on the suspect's identity.
Additionally, Israel claimed its troops captured 8 Kassam rockets and launchers as Palestinians attempted to smuggle the rockets between the West Bank cities of Nablus and Jenin early Wednesday morning.
According to this report, the weapons were captured on a truck at an occupation roadblock between the two cities.
A senior General Staff officer told Ha'aretz that the Palestinians planned to fire the rockets at the northern city of Afula. (Albawaba.com)
