Despite the Algerian government's amnesty-offer for hundreds of Islamists, gunmen in the country have stepped up their attacks in the holy month of Ramadan. On Tuesday, October 23 a militant group has launched a deadly attack in the city of Medea, about 150 km southwest of the Algerian capital, killing one policeman and one civilian, and injuring three other people.
<i>Algeria Daily</i> reports that the security forces were able to track down and kill two of the attackers.
