Activists loyal to al Qaeda operative Abu Musab al-Zarqawi have killed a Turkish hostage and posted a videotape on the Internet on Monday showing armed men slitting his throat.
"My name is Durmus Kumdereli. I am from Tarsus (in southern Turkey). I am a truck driver. I brought machine parts and construction materials from Turkey for an American base near Tikrit," the man said, before three men push him to the ground and cut his throat with a knife.
Kumdereli was abducted on August 14 along with another Turkish driver.
Meanwhile, two Australians and two East Asians have been abducted in Iraq, said a statement from the Islamic Secret Army issued Monday in the city of Samarra.
According to AFP, the statement gave Canberra a 24-hour deadline to end its interests in Iraq or see the hostages executed. (albawaba.com)
