A Tehran constituency Parliament Member to Iran's Parliament, Majlis, said on Monday that the recent stance adopted by US President George W. Bush regarding Iran are merely due to his lack of experience in international politics.

According to IRNA, Head of the May 23rd Faction at the Majlis Seyed Ali-Akbar Mohtashamipur said, "the White House had better realize that despite the existing differences in Iran, our nation maintains its solidarity and unity in confrontation with foreign threats."

Mohtashamipur said that the Americans apparently have learned no lesson from their past experience with the Iranians.

"The American politicians, seeming to be drunken with the wine of their self claimed victories in Afghanistan, assume that Iran, too, like Afghanistan, will be taken care of resorting to a few threatening remarks and an intense air raid for a few months," stated the MP, adding that, "such moves will never ensure the achievement of the arrogant and expansionist goals of the US policy makers”.

Mohtashamipur added, "both the political system of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian nation have grave differences, not only with Afghanistan, but with all other countries in the region and the world, and are quite exceptional."

He said one of those special characteristics is the highly affectionate position Iran takes when it encounters foreign threats, in which case it appears as a solid and unified nation, determined to ward off the foreign threat.

Mohtashamipur expressed, "George Bush had taken it for granted that if he would threaten Iran and adopt an aggressive stand towards our country, the Iranian authorities would not hesitate in reviewing all their stands towards the US and the racist-Zionist entity, adopting either a pro-west stand, or at least total silence."

The Majlis representative added, "but the reasonable stands adopted by various Iranian authorities, particularly by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, [Iran’s] President Khatami and the parliament might have already convinced the Americans how wrong their stands towards Iran have been up to now and convinced them that Iran is neither going to yield to their hegemony, nor to their expansionist tendencies."

He conveyed that 23 years after ousting the Shah's US-backed regime, and depriving the US of all its interests in the Islamic Republic, the Iranians are still firmly standing on their own feet, never doubting their independent approach.

The MP expressed certainty that in case the United States would resort to a raging approach towards Iran and the Iranian nation, that would equal to digging its own grave and it can be sure of receiving severe blows all over the world for an infinite period of time.

Furthermore, Mohtashamipur said it is not only the European Union (EU) that has evaluated the US approach as illogical, but all other major countries in the world, too, share that stand and are unwilling to share the fate that will embrace the Americans.

He added that relying on the path termed by the late Imam Homeini, pure Islamic thought and strong support of the Iranian nation, Iran would never wash its hands off its righteous stands, including full spiritual support of the oppressed and innocent Palestinian nation and their Intifada uprising.

Mohtashmipur who serves as the Secretary-General of the International Conference to Support Palestine's Intifada said, "Iran believes all nations are free to adopt their political approach independently, and the Palestinian nation, too, is not an exception to that rule."

He added, "the Palestinian nation, including their refugees and those living abroad, must in a free referendum choose the type of political system they wish to have after the independent Palestinian country is established thanks to their own brave struggle for so many decades."

Mohtashamipur added, "that is a rational stand adopted by Iran and the Islamic Republic will defend it till the end of the time, regardless of the US pressure, part of whose purpose is forcing Iran to alter its policies in that regard”.

He said, "one of the major objectives of the Americans and the Zionists following the September 11 terrorist events and the Afghan developments has been finalizing the Palestinian-Zionist crisis in favor of the latter”.

He added that the Americans wish to bring an end to the Intifada and that is why they have been accusing so many Arab countries, major supporters of the Palestinian nation and the regional movements in Lebanon and occupied lands of terrorism, or having tendencies towards it, and suppressing them resorting to such pretexts.

He concluded, "if Iran, as a country with an Islamic and revolutionary system, would back up in confrontation with US threats regarding the Palestinian cause, that would result in a big defeat within the Islamic world, and an all encompassing disparate and pessimistic feeling among the Palestinian nation and all those forces that have taken part in Intifada with all their resistance."

"That will be the time for total uprooting of the Intifada for the US-backed racist-Zionists". (Albawaba.com)
