Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Havana Sunday that Palestinian groups should avoid discord and reinforce unity by relying on goals of the Palestinian people to meet their demands.
Mottaki, who is currently in Havana, met with the Palestinian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Qaddoumi on the sidelines of the 14th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which wrapped up its work on Saturday night. "The Islamic Republic of Iran supports such a coalition. The Palestinian people have regarded resistance as the only way to confront the Zionist regime," the Iranian minister said.
According to IRNA, he added that resistance of the Palestinian nation started 40 years ago and has faced many ups and downs during the period. "There was serious doubt from the beginning whether the United States was determined to settle the Palestinian case."
The Iranian minister added that Israel has been founded to cause tension in the Middle East region. "Its nature is based on occupation and massacre of the Palestinian people and making them homeless," he noted.
"The Zionist regime cannot survive without resort to such measures. We cannot believe Israel will return the Palestinian lands because it runs counter to its principle of occupation," Mottaki said.
