The Iranian Embassy in Amman has categorically denied reports, which have stated that Tehran was planning to change its policy towards Israel, the official Saudi Press Agency reported Monday.
A press statement released by the Iranian embassy said “Iran views Israel as an usurper and an illegal entity, and it is impossible to attain peace and stability in the Middle East as long as Israel occupies the Palestinian territories and the Palestinian refugees problem is not settled.”
“The recent statement of the official spokesman of the Iranian foreign ministry does not imply any change in Iran's stand vis-a-vis Israel. On the contrary, the statement reiterates Iran's opposition to the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories.”
Earlier this month, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said that Iran favored the establishment of a Palestinian state on all Palestinian territories. However, he added "if the Palestinians should chose a solution other than the one preferred by Tehran, then Iran will not try to prevent it." (Albawaba.com)
