Iran's Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi concluded a short visit to Syria and left Damascus for Tehran Saturday night.
Kharrazi, who was in Syria at the head of a political delegation, discussed with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara the "settlement of the ongoing crisis in the region", IRNA reported.
Speaking to reporters, the Iranian minister assessed regional developments after the assassination of former prime minister Rafic Al-Hariri as "unpleasant".
He urged the regional states to have more contacts and consultations to prevent escalation of the crisis in the sensitive Middle East region.
