Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani concluded Tuesday afternoon in Brussels preliminary negotiations on Iran's nuclear case with EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana.
Speaking to reporters after the 4-hour talks, Solana said "we had a long meeting with Dr. Larijani. It is not the first time we do it."
According to IRNA, he said they made a review of the events that have taken place about the consultations of the proposals made by the EU about five weeks ago to Iran to resolve the nuclear standoff. Solana noted he will report to the ministers of the six countries (5 permanent Members of the UNSC plus Germany), meeting in Paris on Wednesday.
"We will make an analysis of the situation after this period of time and we will see how to proceed," said Solana adding that he will be in contact with Larijani.
On his part, Larijani said the meeting is in continuation of the Tehran meeting five weeks ago . "We discussed a wide range of important issues. We will be in contact in order to see how we proceed."
"We have today entered a long process. We must be patient,'' he added. They did not take any questions from the reporters.
Senior diplomats from France, Germany, the UK and Russia also participated in the meeting.
