ALBAWABA - Israel reportedly struck Iranian military targets, including missile development facilities, overnight on Saturday, according to Israeli and American reports. Iran says the strike did little damage because its air defenses stopped it.
An American source told CNN that Israeli attacks targeted Iranian military installations nationwide and were “broad and precise.” An Israeli source said the attacks skirted Iran's energy facilities. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) struck missile manufacturing locations suspected of supplying rockets used in recent strikes on Israel. To ease Israel's air operations, Iranian air defense and aerial capabilities were also attacked.
Iran denies Israel's assault claim. A source told Tasnim News Agency that the “20 targeted sites” were overstated and the number was “significantly lower.” No Tehran IRGC military locations were damaged, the source said.
The Iranian source said that the strike was launched from outside Iran and caused “limited” damage, dismissing reports of 100 Israeli fighter planes as “fabrications aimed at inflating the scale of the operation.”
Israeli Security Cabinet authorized the four-hour attack, which the IDF notified the US about in a call. The action occurred in response to Iran's 180-rocket bombardment in October, according to Israeli sources. Iran's missile attack was apparently retaliation for Israel's claimed killing of Ismail Haniyeh and Hassan Nasrallah.
The rocket onslaught damaged Israeli airbases, according to the IDF. The Associated Press reported damage on Israel's Nevatim airfield via satellite. Israel, which has attacked Gaza and Lebanon, has said it would continue to respond to Iran's offensive.
