Intersec 2006, the leading trade exhibition and conference in the Middle East for Commercial Security, Homeland Security, Safety, Fire & Police is set to be 90% bigger than last year’s event. Organised by Epoc Messe Frankfurt, the show has set a new record of growth since its launch in Dubai 8 years ago.
The Show will be held at the Dubai World Trade Exhibition Centre from 29-31 January, 2006 and is expected to attract more than 400 exhibitors from 40 countries compared to the 330 exhibitors and 530 brands/ subexhibitors from 30 countries at last year’s show.
According to Imke Huelsmann, Exhibition Manager at Epoc Messe Frankfurt, the show is growing at this rate due to worldwide increased focus on homeland security and safety. “Add to that the burgeoning construction and tourism markets in the Gulf region, security and safety have become an essential part of continuing growth.”
Intersec is a combined exhibition and conference targeting the region’s police, fire, commercial security and safety and health experts in Government as well as private industries. “We aim to bring in the latest and most advanced products to the show covering all sectors of the industry,” explained Ms Huelsmann. “This is why the show has been divided into four areas of specialization.”
The first and most frequented area at the exhibition is MECSEC (Middle East Commercial Security Exhibition & Conference) , which covers the commercial security sector such as CCTV, biometrics, access control, locks, gates, perimeter security, DVR, surveillance etc. This sector which is almost fully booked is only a reflection of the growing construction industry.
The second section of Intersec is MEPEC (Middle East Police Exhibition & Conference) which is the Police exhibition and conference which includes police suppliers and companies offering hundreds of products for Homeland Security and Bordercontrol but also Forensic equipment, biometrics, Smart Cards, Armored Cars and C4I.
MEFEC (Middle East Fire Exhibition & Conference) is the third segment which deals exclusively with fire and will attract suppliers of products such as fire vehicles, communications equipment, smoke detectors and alarms, rescue and much more.
The youngest section at Intersec is the Middle East Safety & Health exhibition and conference, MESH (Middle East Safety & Health Exhibition & Conference). This show is facing increasing demand as more and more regulations in terms of workplace safety come into place. “At the moment, there are not too many distributors for safety products and work protection in the market, but the police force, municipalities and construction companies etc. need to get the latest safety products to ensure their employees’ and labour forces’ adhere to the safety standards being applied in the industry,” said Ms Huelsmann.
Intersec has firmly established itself as “the” sourcing event within The Middle East, key companies already contracted include: Tyco/DSC, Naffco, Corodex, Pelco, Lenel, Napco, Draeger, Panasonic, Bacou-Dalloz, Norbain, HID, GE Security, Dedicated Micros, Sanyo, Kaba or Securiton to name but a few.
Intersec has been supported by Dubai Police over the last years and recently also by the UAE Ministry of Interior and the Civil Defence.
Besides government authorities, Intersec attracts visitors from the whole region, such as security professionals, architects or system integrators.
The Show is expected to attract around 8500 visitors from the region.
