The Indian community in Dubai has donated Dh1.03 million for the construction of a new building for the Rashid Pediatric and Therapy Center, which provides care for children with special needs, according to a report by the Khaleej Times.
A check for Dh1,030111 was presented Sunday to Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of the institution, by Asoke Mukerji, the Consul-General of India, on behalf of the Indian community in Dubai, which has been actively involved in collecting funds for the new building in the Barsha area, said the report.
"The Indian community in Dubai arrived in the emirate more than a century ago and has since been actively involved in the socio-economic development of the emirate. They have established close relations with the local community and benefited significantly from the support and encouragement given to them by the rulers of Dubai," a statement from the Indian Consulate in Dubai said – Albawaba.com
