Foreign ministers and heads of delegations of the countries participating in the 3rd Conference on Human Security Network (HSN) in Jordan considered the Jordanian-Egyptian initiative and Mitchell committee report as a base for ending the current crisis in the Palestinian lands, reported the official Jordanian news agency Petra.
In a final communiqué issued at the end of a two-day meeting held in the historic city of Petra, 250 kilometers south of the capital, the officials said that “the two documents should be the base for resumption of negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis.”
The participants called on all concerned parties “to implement the recommendations of Mitchell report and the Jordanian Egyptian initiative,” said the communiqué, cited by the agency.
The network includes the countries of Jordan, Canada, Mali, Norway, Slovenia, Chile, Ireland, Holland, Switzerland, Thailand and South Africa as an observer.
The conference dealt with mainly three issues: human security and development, peace support operations and Human security and children.
Jordan is the only Middle Eastern country in the Human Security Network - a value-based and flexible coalition of states believing in the importance of shifting the diplomatic focus from the protection of states' rights and sovereignty, to people's freedom from want and fear, said the agency – Albawaba.com
