ALBAWABA - Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem declared a tremendous triumph against Israel in a televised broadcast after the ceasefire in Lebanon, surpassing the 2006 battle. Qassem reiterated Hezbollah's support for Palestine and willingness to face future challenges.
“This is a historic triumph,” Qassem said, underlining that Hezbollah outlasted Israel's attempts to dismantle and weaken the resistance. He credited the win to the Lebanese people's resilience, the conflict's intensity, and Hezbollah's ability to survive a sustained Israeli onslaught backed by Western and U.S. assistance.
He noted that Hezbollah's strikes pushed hundreds of thousands of Israelis to abandon northern regions, leaving Israel without military or political answers.
Qassem called the November 27 ceasefire a tactical arrangement based on UN Security Council Resolution 1701. He explained that it is an operational framework that requires Israel's disengagement from occupied territories and the Lebanese Army's deployment south of the Litani River. Hezbollah and the army will maintain regional security.
Qassem remarked, “This agreement was accepted with our heads held high, under the umbrella of Lebanese sovereignty, and with our full right to defend ourselves.”
Qassem reiterated Hezbollah's support for Palestine. He noted that Hezbollah did not seek conflict but was prepared for it, helping Gaza's resistance throughout Israel's recent assault operation.
Qassem pledged Hezbollah's cooperation with the government, international organizations, and states willing to rebuild Lebanon. He also stressed the importance of constitutional processes, particularly the January 2025 presidential election, demonstrating Hezbollah's political involvement in Lebanon.
Hezbollah's leader thanked Iran, Yemen, and Iraq for their support and criticized those weakening the fight. Qassem said, “Their plans have failed,” but Hezbollah will continue.
