Bahrain will witness an exciting day of Irish Games, music and children’s games when the annual Gulf Air Gaelic Games kicks off tomorrow (Friday) at the American Express Bahrain Rugby Football Club, Saar.
Gulf Air has flown in popular Irish band “TAXI” especially for the event, which will enthrall the audience with traditional and popular Irish songs and music that evening.
Sportsmen and women from Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar will play Gaelic Football and Hurling - Europe's oldest field game- while a special kids' Gaelic games exhibition match has also been planned.
"Gulf Air is pleased to associate with the Bahrain Irish Society in hosting the annual Gulf Air Gaelic Games," says Gulf Air Vice President Marketing and Sales Lee Shave.
"As part of our business and social relationship, Gulf Air has always extended support to Irish events. For example, last year Gulf Air, in association with Tourism Ireland, had organised a series of events - a weeklong music, dance and culinary shows, followed by a Gulf Air Irish Charity Ball. "
Gulfy, the now popular Gulf Air mascot, will make a special appearance at the venue to enthrall children.
"As the airline with direct and nonstop flights to Ireland from Bahrain, Gulf Air has become popular among the Irish community in Bahrain and neighbouring countries, in addition to the business community with Irish connection," added Mr Shave.
Australian Super V8 Super Car legend Craig Lowndes, who is in town for the V8 Championship, will be signing autographs on the day. Proceeds from the day's events will be sued for helping local charities.
