Gitex Regional Expansion In Hyderabad Inks 6th Edition Of Gitex India

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, India signed a Memorandum of Understanding in their continued support and commitment for GITEX India to be held on 9 - 11 January 2007 at the HITEX International Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad.

DWTC General Manager Abdulla Qassem said,  “Since the launch in 2002, the GITEX brand has grown and established a strong connection with the ICT sector in Hyderabad, one of India’s main ICT line. As India continues to surge ahead in its leading role in the global ICT industry, we are delighted to be an essential part of Hyderabad’s continuous development and significant contribution in the ICT sector.”

GITEX India serves as a valuable business to business platform for companies to display the latest technology products and services. “The ICT community in Hyderabad is enjoying unprecedented growth in the field of IT and its applications for the benefits of the State. It enjoys the status as one of the key drivers of the ICT sector in India, in both business as well as in honing policies that contribute to the state’s development,” said Mrs. K Ratna Prabha (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Information Technology and Communications Department.

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a major destination for technology innovation, offshore services as well as a strong back office support to major global industries, including business process outsourcing, technology services and applications, telecoms, digital designing, animation and gaming.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh’s active support to the capital city has boosted the turnout in the previous year’s success. GITEX India 2006 registered 50 per cent increase in floor space to accommodate 158 exhibiting companies, and receive more than 9,800 trade visitors from all over the world, including Korea, Thailand, UK, USA and the Middle East.  This year there would be more value additions to the exhibition in the form of conferences and seminars.

“Riding on the success and growth of the past five editions of GITEX India, we look forward to renewed presence from important market players in the global industry and strong participation to deliver a bigger and more comprehensive show in 2007,” added Mr Qassem.

The preferred IT destination in India also gears up for GITEX Shopper India, the retail arm of GITEX India to be held simultaneously in a dedicated hall at the HITEX International Convention Centre. Shopper India will offer some of the best deals in computer hardware, software, peripherals, multimedia and a wide range of computer products and services all under one roof.
