A travel trade delegation consisting of 18 top officials from the German Federation of Travel Agencies, Deutscher Reiseburo und Reiseveranstalter Verband (DRV) met with the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing's (DTCM) Director-General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem on Saturday, before the annual meeting of the DRV in Dubai, according to Khaleej Times

DRV represents the interests of the German travel trade and covers all major and medium sized tour operator and travel agent chains as well as many independent travel agents with a total of around 5,000 members.

Established in 1950, the DRV is the largest organization of travel agents and tour operators in Germany. The DRV President, Klaus Laepple and DRV Vice-President Hans Doldi amongst others attended the meeting.

“This is the first time that the DRV has organized its annual meeting outside Germany and we are pleased at their decision to select Dubai as the venue,” Sulayem announced.

He pointed out that the decision to hold the meeting in the Emirate emphasizes the good travel and trade relations between Dubai and Germany. “We are confident that this meeting will go a long way in spreading increased awareness of Dubai's attractions as a top class tourist destination among the German travel trade and the wider community of German travelers,” Sulayem conveyed.
