GE Healthcare, one of the world’s leading medical imaging, healthcare services and information technology companies, introduced its latest Enterprise Integrated Solutions, the electronic health record (EHR), Radiology Information System (RIS), Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), and Cardiovascular Information Solution & Clinical Information Solution at the Saudi e-Health Conference held recently in Riyadh.

As a platinum sponsor of the conference, GE, which recently completed its acquisition of leading healthcare ICT provider IDX Systems Corporation, also introduced its IDX capabilities to the region for the first time.

“GE is committed to creating a digital healthcare community that supports safe, efficient and cost-effective patient care around the world, and our participation at the Saudi e-Health Conference underlined our ongoing commitment to this region,” said Wael Khalil, GE Healthcare Sales and Commercial Manager, MECAT.

With its successful portfolio of digital solutions, GE Healthcare has secured major deals in the Kingdom. Recently, GE Healthcare announced its partnership with the National Guard Hospitals to provide its RIS/PACS solutions that will cover four hospitals and over 15 clinics making it the largest RIS/PACS site in the Middle East.

Through its new vision ‘Healthcare Re-Imagined’, GE Healthcare goal is to help clinicians detect diseases earlier and treat their patients more effectively based on better-informed decisions. The company has successfully installed and implemented its PACS/RIS solutions in King Faisal Specialized Hospital in Riyadh, King Khalid University Hospital in Riyadh, Riyadh Al Kharj Military Hospital Program, King Fahd Medical City-Riyadh, Prince Sultan Humanitarian City and Al Noor Specialized Hospital in Makkah.

“Saudi Arabia is the largest and fastest-growing IT and healthcare market in the Middle East, and as such is a strategic regional entry point for the new age in patient care,” said Juergen Reyinger, General Manager GE Healthcare Information Technologies Europe, Middle East & Africa. “The international advances in medical imaging, diagnostics, patient monitoring systems, biomedical and information and communication technologies in healthcare provide new ways to predict, diagnose and treat disease and live life to the fullest, benefits that we believe should be brought to this region as quickly as possible.”

The Saudi e-Health Conference, considered the largest healthcare technology event in the Middle East and attended by 500 specialists from around the region, included presentations, discussions and case studies led by international experts and specialists. The event also featured an exhibition, showcasing the latest in medical and hospital information systems, PACS, telemedicine and other advances in informatics.

Healthcare informatics, a relatively new specialty within medicine, aims to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare delivery by applying IT solutions to the enormous volumes of information generated daily in hospitals, clinics and laboratories.
