Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT provider has launched five new PRIMERGY server models: the tower models TX200 and TX300 S3, the rack-based models RX200 and RX300 S3 and the blade servers BX620 S3. All new form factors run on the new Intel Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processors E5310 and E5320, codename ‘Clovertown’.
The PRIMERGY servers will take advantage of the new Intel processor’s almost doubled performance per watt compared to the latest generation of Intel Dual-Core processors. Additionally, all described server models support the three available Intel Xeon series processors of the 5300 sequence providing the widest range of performance choice for all customer demands in typical application scenarios. The new models are now available throughout the EMEA region.
“Regional users can now obtain more computing power from fewer servers and reduce waste heat and power consumption in data centers which will lead to direct cost savings in IT infrastructure, said Rajesh Deepchandani, Product Marketing Manager, Large Enterprise, ME, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “The embedded virtualization technology of the Intel Xeon processors delivers optimised support of virtual machines such as VMware and Xen making our PRIMERGY servers an ideal choice for consolidation in data centers.”
“Intel® processors are known for their excellent performance, reliability and compatibility. That's why Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Intel are co-operating closely since many years. Fujitsu Siemens Computers was involved in the development of the Bensley platform, which is the basis for the Xeon processors, from the beginning, therefore we had the chance to tune our PRIMERGY S3 server generation to an optimum”, said Jens-Peter Seick, Vice President Enterprise Server Business.
“Intel's new generation processors is combine superb performance with superior power efficiency and reliability. This is another enhancement to our enterprise product portfolio tuned to meet customers' toughest demands while delivering maximum value.”
The new Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5300 series processors have paved the way to the next level of performance per watt in PRIMERGY Rack, Tower and Blade servers. With only 80 watts of power consumption per processor socket combined with four cores highest performance the computing needs of sophisticated data center applications and standard application scenarios will be best supported.
“Intel has made this next step in the computer’s ongoing evolution as fast and easy as possible through continued investment in silicon process and manufacturing technology, innovative and tailored product design, and a myriad of software developer tools and programs. This ensures immediate benefits for our customers”, said Christian Morales, Vice President, Sales and Marketing Group Europe, Middle East, Africa, Intel.
“We are overly excited about the fruits of the cooperation with Fujitsu Siemens Computers. Fujitsu Siemens Computers didn’t just present a range of new Server Systems based on the new Intel Xeon Processor, but their PRIMERGY TX300 S3 server delivered record-breaking web server performance with a SPECWeb2005 score of 18160.”
Together with 8 MB second level cache (2x 4 MB) and up to 1333 MHz bandwidth front side bus a real performance boost of more than 30 % (TPCC) can be expected, compared to latest Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processors 5100 series.
