knowledgenetwork (knet) are proud to announce that they will be organising the forthcoming Fons Trompenaars “Towards the Sustainable Organisation of the 21st Century” master workshop to be held on Thursday 8th December 2005 at the Emirates Auditorium, Emirates Training College, Garhoud.

The half day workshop will be conducted by the world renowned authority on managing cultural diversity for profitability.  As Managing Director of Trompenaars Hampden-Turner Intercultural Management Consulting, Trompenaars has won acclaim as both an author and advisor, working with major global corporations to benefit from the vast opportunities presented by cultural differences.  The workshop is being conducted in association with Emirates, one of the world's fastest growing airlines.

Trompenaars gained hands-on experience while working for Royal Dutch Shell, handling operations in nine different countries and during his 15 years of research, has also worked as a consultant for BP, ICI, Philips, Heineken, TRW, Mars, Motorola, General Motors, Nike, Cable and Wireless, CSM and Merrill Lynch.  He now develops programmes for cross-cultural management that empower organisations throughout the business world.

Fons discusses the implications for managing or being managed, working together, building relationships, team working, negotiating and communicating with people from other cultures, but also aims to increase understanding of the underlying values of different cultures.  This leads to greater respect for diverse ways of operating and the desire and skills for reconciling cultural differences to achieve world class business performance.

Trompenaars was awarded the International Professional Practice Area Research Award by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).  He was also named as one of the top 5 management consultants, next to Michael Porter, Tom Peters and Edward de Bono in a leading business magazine in August 1999.

Trompenaars will introduce his tried and tested model which analyses cultural differences.  Called the ‘Seven Dimensions of Culture’ the model shows how managing complexity in a heterogeneous environment is a major challenge for today’s international managers and corporate leaders and a critical component of long term business success.  Trompenaars will also explain how reconciling cultural differences leads to distinct professional competitive advantage and differential.

“Towards the Sustainable Organisation of the 21st Century” will provide a unique perspective and insights relevant to every senior manager, managing director and company owner in the GCC.  The workshop will commence with registration and coffee at 8.30am and conclude at 1.00pm with a networking lunch afterwards.  Seats are strictly limited and tickets are priced at AED1,500 per person. Pre-booking is essential as no registrations will be accepted on the day of the workshop.  Last date for booking is Wednesday 30th November 2005.
