A car bombing attack hit an Iraqi police car and a civilian vehicle carrying foreigners in the city of Ramadi, some 110 km west of Baghdad, on Wednesday, killing at least nine people, hospital sources said.
Reports said at least four foreigners were killed. "We have the bodies of five Iraqis and four foreigners," said Dr. Mohammed Jalal, according to AFP. "In addition, 10 injured Iraqis were admitted to our hospital."
Police and U.S. troops sealed off the area after the explosion, witnesses said.
A car bomb exploded Tuesday outside an occupation base near Hillah south of Baghdad, killing one Iraqi and wounding another, the U.S. military said. And gunmen killed an Iraqi police official in a town near Hillah as he went to work, the military said.
Elsewhere, gunmen ambushed and killed the top security official for the state-run Northern Oil company Wednesday, Iraqi security forces said.
According to The AP, Ghazi Talabani was killed as he was on his way to work in the city of Kirkuk, said Gen. Anwar Amin, of the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps.
Three gunmen shot at Talabani's car after his bodyguard briefly left the vehicle in a crowded market. His bodyguard was also injured.
The security chief was the cousin of Jalal Talabani, the leader of one of the two main Kurdish political parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. (Albawaba.com)
