ALBAWABA - A huge smoke is seen rising near the Bapco oil refinery in Bahrain on Monday morning, Reuters reported, citing a witness.
The Bahraini government announced injuries and damage in the Sitra area following an Iranian drone attack.
The Bahrain News Agency said that a fire broke out due to an Iranian attack targeting a facility in the Ma’ameer area, resulting in material damage, but no human casualties. Authorities said that emergency responders had headed to the location of the fire, and firefighters are working to stop the blaze.
In response, Bapco has declared force majeure on its operations due to the current situation, stemming from ongoing Iranian attacks in the region and the recent attack targeting one of Bapco Refining Company’s refinery units.
The company clarified that all local market needs are fully secured according to proactive plans, ensuring the continuity of supplies and meeting local demand without disruption.
Reuters mentioned that Bapco is Bahrain's main oil refinery and a key facility in the country's energy sector.
