In its continued effort to support local talents, Fine Hygienic Paper Co. LTD. announced today its sponsorship of Jordanian athlete Mohammed Asha at the Marathon Des Sables.
The marathon will take place in Morocco between April 7th and April 17th 2006, during which Fine will provide support and sponsor Al- Asha by financing his travel and living expenses, accommodations, and the cost of all the equipment that Asha may need to effectively participate in the run.
The 250-km Marathon Des Sables is considered one of the worlds most challenging adventures an athlete would experience. More than 770 competitors from 36 countries are participating in this year's event, coming from Asia, Europe, Africa and USA.
At a press conference held yesterday at the Amman Marriott Hotel, Fine's Marketing Section Head Mr. Mouammar AlHadidi stated that it is important to have Jordanian Athletes take part in International Sports events, for such participations help elevate our Kingdom's athletic portfolio and position our athletes on the global sports map.
Mr. AlHadidi added, "Fine's support of Mohammed Asha is aligned with the firm's strong belief in the importance of supporting Jordanians in general, and especially those who represent Jordan in international athletic or social events. We hope that through extending our support to our fellow citizens we would be able to solidify our pioneering market status which is inline with our strategy to promote and support healthy lifestyle for all Jordanians; that guarantees and leads to the wellbeing of individuals. We also hope to strengthen our presence within the Jordanian and International markets. Mohammed Asha's participation in this year's Marathon Des Sables will in fact be his first, whereby he will be representing Jordan alongside two other Jordanian athletes. Through this participation, Asha will be drawing upon his past experiences, and the expertise he gained through his participation in running events held in Egypt, Switzerland, and Cyprus as well as the Jabal Ishrin Marathon of Wadi Rum.
Commenting on Fine’s support, Mohammed Asha thanked Fine for granting him the opportunity to take part in the Marathon Des Sables of Morocco next month, and stated, "With Fine's support I have begun my first steps towards professionalism. It’s a dream come true for any Arab or Jordanian athlete to take part in the Marathon Des Sables of Morocco.
