Within efforts geared towards placing technology at the service of the various vital sectors in the Kingdom, namely the educational sector, Fastlink has signed an agreement with Jordan University, enabling students to benefit from the EduLink Project, which links the students with universities’ databases via their mobile phones.
The service, the first of its kind in the Middle East, is presented in cooperation with New Generation for Telecommunications and Software Solutions (NGT), allows students to receive information on their cumulative average and grades, the lecture hall and name of professor, and registration details, among other information through the “Rassel” service, all in real time and from any location.
Fastlink Deputy CEO, Bassel Rousan said the service was created in hopes to make maximum benefit of mobile technology and cater for the various sectors in the Kingdom, including the educational sector, which enjoys much attention by Fastlink.
Rousan added that Fastlink has always taken the extra step to contribute to economic and social development by continuously seeking to play a leading role in upgrading education in the Kingdom, relying on latest educational programs and advanced technologies.
Furthermore, the new service is part and parcel of educational activities and training programs, which connect Fastlink with a number of universities. A substantial number of students have so far benefited from Fastlink’s training programs, which helped enrich their technical, administrative and marketing skills.
Rousan pointed out that Fastlink has accorded special attention to Jordanian youth, “as they constitute the true wealth needed to build a bright future for the country”. He said the Company has established partnerships with a number of universities and was the first private sector institution to initiate support for the Jordanian Educational Initiative, which involves the computerization of the science curricula as part of an overall plan to upgrade education in the Kingdom.
Last year, Fastlink set up “Fastlink Educational Fund”, which hopes to support efforts aimed at upgrading the living standards of underprivileged students, by availing them educational grants to help them pursue their university education.
