United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan is discussing with Moroccan King Mohammed VI and Spain’s King Juan Carlos I about "calling together experts" to meet in the Spanish city of Seville, "to prepare the way" for an eventual Middle East conference, a UN official said Wednesday.
"Its an idea to help prepare for an eventual middle east conference at (the) ministerial level proposed by the quartet – U.N., U.S., E.U. and Russia," the official told the Kuwait News Agency.
He conveyed that this expert meeting would not substitute the Middle East conference. The UN official would not provide any further details, but said "it’s all very tentative."
Asked about the countries to take part in this preparatory meeting, the official would not answer, saying "its individual experts. It is not a governmental meeting. That’s not his (Annan’s) idea." (Albawaba.com)
