A number of expatriates teachers in remote areas in the Emirati city of Ras Al Khaima are threatening to resign and go home, saying the ban on their children studying in public schools has made the “future bleak.”
The Gulf News said that a group on Sunday went to the education zone to submit their resignation letters.
A senior official at the zone said the teachers could not meet the head of the zone as he was in a meeting in the ministry in Dubai.
The teachers said they will return to resign and then go back home. They stressed that there are no private schools in the remote areas of the emirate or the UAE.
The teachers said they have been waiting for a final decision from the ministry. If their children are not exempted, they will leave the country, said the paper.
The official added that none of the teachers has found a solution.
Hussein Jaber, Deputy Director of the Ras Al Khaimah Education Zone, said they have been waiting for a decision by the ministry because the zone cannot take a decision on exempting children living in remote areas from the ban.
In remote Al Munaie, 170 km from the city, there are 10 students whose parents are teachers in the area.
