The European Union Member States representatives in Amman unanimous to support the 3rd International Rebuild Iraq Exhibition which will be held at the International Exhibition Center ABDALI Urban regeneration project, Amman, Jordan from 8 – 11 May 2006.
Speaking on behalf of the Commercial and Economic Counselors and Attaches of the EU Member States, Kurt ALTMANN, the Commercial and Economic Counselor of Austria in Amman which his country is holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2006, said “EU is supporting this International event, we will encourage the European companies to exhibit in this successful show.
Fadi Kaddoura, Project Director of Rebuild Iraq exhibition, said that “the EU unanimous to support the 3rd International Rebuild Iraq Exhibition is a new factor which proofs the success of the event, resulting in a tremendous inflow of booking requests from all over the world and especially form the EU countries. Indications lead us to believe that the 2006 event will be yet another success with a forecasted growth of 15 – 20% in the number of exhibitors. A good number of new countries and countries which missed the 2005 event, have already confirmed to have a full-scale participation at Rebuild Iraq 2006.
To date, the 3rd Rebuild Iraq in 2006 has already obtained the unshaken support of 56 prominent official bodies from 36 countries. Holland is one of the European new comers to the exhibition. In addition we are waiting the confirmation of two other European countries in the upcoming days. The total number of the European companies registered as of 20 January 2006 is 185. the companies are distributed on the EU countries as following : Austria 19, Belgium 17, Cyprus 15, Denmark 11, France 21, Germany 35, Greece 8, Italy 16, Luxembourg 7, Romania10, Sweden- 12, Netherlands 2 and U.K 12”. Added Kaddoura.
“This led us to expect a heavy inflow of bookings from all parts of the world between March and mid April, and our estimate is that the total number of exhibitors will exceed 1000 from over 50 countries, covering the full 35000 SQM indoor and outdoor exhibition space available at the International Exhibition Center ABDALI Urban regeneration project”. He added.
“To ensure a high level of visitor turnout, the organizers of Rebuild Iraq 2006 will conduct massive and highly targeted visitor promotion and media campaigns reaching out to the largest number of leading professionals and traders in Iraq, Jordan and across the region, in cooperation with the major business groups in Iraq. Special efforts to facilitate the visit of hundreds of top Iraqi officials and professionals will be coordinated with Iraqi ministries and other organizations Transportation, border crossing, and special accommodation arrangements will be carefully coordinated in collaboration with Near East company in Baghdad to secure a substantial turnout of professional Iraqi visitors to the show. Burgan persuade the Jordanian companies to register in the show in order to grasp the opportunities to meet top EU companies ready to build and develop trade relations in the Jordanian and Iraqi market.
“We’ve already received tens of booking requests from a major Jordan companies which reflects the progress in construction activity in Jordan during 2005 and 2006. The favorable sentiment in the sector was reflected by the 55.3% rise in new firms”. He added
Furthermore, and to give added value to the participating international delegations and update them on the opportunities and business environment in Iraq, a two day “Rebuild Iraq 2006 Conference” on May 9 and 10, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Amman, is being organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham). The Conference will cover all major issues of relevance to companies doing business in Iraq, be it security, finance, contracting or the business environment, and will address the business potential in specific sectors like health, infrastructure development, trade and others. AmCham already started putting together the conference program and securing the participation of top Iraqi and international keynote speakers and international experts on Iraq.
