Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is continuing to build on its unprecedented levels of growth with the announcement of four new routes to Pakistan and the Philippines which will open in February 2006.
From 13 February, the new Pakistan routes of Islamabad and Peshawar, along with Philippines’ capital Manila, will be added to Etihad’s current Asian service, with Lahore then being added on 20 February.
Etihad already flies to Karachi, and with these new announcements Pakistan will become one of the busiest countries on Etihad’s network, with a total of four destinations. Several other new routes are scheduled to be launched in the near future and, with the Abu Dhabi-based airline’s ambitions to fly to 70 destinations by 2010, this latest announcement shows the luxury carrier to be well on schedule to meet that target.
“This significant expansion of Etihad’s Asian service to Pakistan and the Philippines, demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing frequent and flexible travel between the world’s most significant cultural and commercial destinations. Etihad is now establishing itself as one of the leading airlines catering for the global Asian community,” said Geert Boven, VP Commercial, Etihad Airways.
“As well as carrying nationals and travellers from the UAE, the new routes will also continue to build on Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a major world destination for business and leisure,” added Boven.
This announcement takes place following the company’s recent unveiling ceremony of its Boeing 777 – 300ER aircraft, the first of 29 Boeing and Airbus aircraft that will make up its new fleet scheduled for delivery before spring 2008.
The new Boeing 777-300ER has been built exactly to Etihad’s specifications. It maintains the airline’s ambitious plans to provide Guests with unparalleled levels of style and hospitality by way of inventive seating including a180-degree reclining seat in pearl zone, high speed wireless internet access, sophisticated audio and visual facilities, mood lighting and the finest cuisine on offer in both Coral and Pearl zones.
