Vikas Goel, Chairman and Managing Director of eSys Technologies, the fastest-growing IT component distribution network in the world, has been awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2005 in Singapore. Goel was also adjudged the winner in the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year category.
As Entrepreneur of the Year 2005, Goel will represent Singapore at the Worldwide Entrepreneur of the Year Awards to be held in Monte Carlo in Monaco in June 2006, where the winner will be chosen from 34 award-winning entrepreneurs from different countries.
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards are commonly regarded as the Oscars of the business world. Past recipients of the award include such globally renowned names as Michael Dell of Dell Computers, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Pierre Omidyar of eBay, and Sergey Brin and Larry Page of Google.
In his acceptance speech, Goel said, “An exceptional entrepreneur is able to identify a threat which nobody wants to touch and convert it into an opportunity. Secondly, the successful entrepreneur is a person who looks at a business opportunity and is not self-obsessed by his own beliefs and passion.”
