THE EMIRATES ACADEMY OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT PRESENTS DEAN’S LIST 2006

The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, part of Jumeirah Group, recently held their 2006 Dean’s List ceremony where they recognised high performing students for their outstanding academic performance.

The Dean’s list is one of the many ways the faculty of The Emirates Academy acknowledges the high performance of its top students. The ceremony, which was held at Mina A’ Salam, was attended by the faculty, staff, parents and students of The Emirates Academy as well as senior management of Jumeirah.

Students selected for the Dean’s List have shown achievement across courses and attained an exceptional Grade Point Average (GPA); with a threshold of 3.33. The Dean’s List ceremony was first introduced in 2004 and has now become a bi-annual event for students and faculty at The Emirates Academy.

Ron Hilvert, Principal of The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, commented: “We have a student body to be very proud of here at The Emirates Academy and we are very pleased to be able to recognise such outstanding academic performance.” He added: “The thriving hospitality industry here in Dubai, regionally, and globally is looking for young, talented hospitality professionals and our students will without a doubt excel in their future careers within our exciting, truly international industry”.

The top students in the class of 2004 were Anju Abraham from India, Kristian Kollsrud from Norway and Omar Abu Omar who is Jordanian. Altogether, 25 students from across the various academic programmes were recognised at this year’s Dean’s List ceremony for their exceptional academic achievements.

Current degree programmes on offer at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management are a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Hons Degree in International Hospitality Management, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Hons Degree in International Tourism Management, an Associate Degree in International Hospitality Operations and an Associate Degree in Business & Tourism. The student body of The Emirates Academy is truly international with students from more than 45 different nationalities.

As of January 15th 2006, Jumeirah has assumed management of the Essex House, one of New York’s most prominent hotels.
