Egyptian President Husni Mubarak left Marrakesh on Wednesday at the end of a three-day official visit to Morocco, during which he held talks with King Mohammed VI on various bilateral, regional and international issues.
The Egyptian leader and his wife Suzanne Mubarak, were seen off at the Marrakesh airport by King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid and Princess Lalla Meryem.
At the end of his visit, President Mubarak sent the King a message of thanks, in which he praised "the fraternal talks" he had held with King Mohammed VI "in a climate of friendship and entente," reflecting the solid relations binding Rabat and Cairo, according to the official Maghreb Arabe Presse.
In addition, the Egyptian President said the talks with the Monarch discussed matters of common concern and ways to consolidate Moroccan-Egyptian ties in various sectors.
President Mubarak also praised the will expressed by Rabat and Cairo to continue efforts for the achievement of a fair, global and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, establishing security and stability in the region and for the creation of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Asharif as capital, MAP reported.
According to the Egyptian leader, the Moroccan-Egyptian summit talks reaffirmed the two nations’ wish to see the Iraqi issue settled, to avert disastrous consequences, stemming from the use of force, and with a view to preserving security and stability throughout the region, sparing the lives of the Iraqi people and safeguarding Baghdad's unity and regional security, the news agency concluded.
