The judicial panel supervising the Egyptian Press Association elections has set July 3 as the date for members to choose their new chief, said local press reports.
Applications for candidacy will be accepted as of next Monday for a period of five days.
Officials said that the elections would be conducted under full judicial supervision.
A previous report by Albawaba.com said that candidates for the association’s top post had begun issuing biting statements even before declaring their candidacies.
Candidates are expected to include reigning association head Ibrahim Nafe’; Magdi Hussein, secretary general of the banned Labor Party; Mohammed Abu Liwayeh, an axed writer for the Labor Party’s Al Shaab newspaper; and Mohammed Abdallah, a dismissed Al Ahram journalist – Albawaba.com
