Nearly 200 Egyptian journalists on Sunday protested in front of the parliament building against a new law that would send them to prison if found guilty of publishing "false news reports" about the elections. According to AFP, the demonstrators chanted slogans demanding the freedom of the press and against Egypt's President, Hosni Mubarak.
Representatives of the Press Syndicate, which organised the protest, met with parliament speaker Fathi Surur and the head of Egypt's consultative council (Majlis al-Shura) Sawfat al-Sharif during the demonstration.
