Egypt and Tunisia called Friday for ending the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories and ending “provocation” that have led to destroying the peace process. Both countries also called for lifting sanctions imposed on Iraq and Libya.
The call was made by the two countries’ prime ministers Atef Ebeid and Mohammed Ghannouchi in a final communiqué issued after the two co-chaired a joint committee in Tunis, reported Al-Ahram daily on Saturday.
Both countries also called for “stronger cooperation” to benefit from the partnership with Europe, said the paper.
According to the paper, the two countries signed ten agreements for bolstering ties in the fields of science, information, environment, tourism, economy and youth.
Ebeid arrived in Tunis on Thursday, said the paper, adding that he delivered a message from President Hosni Mubarak to President Zein el-Abideen bin Ali.
The message dealt with preparations for the Arab economic summit to be held in November late this year.
Ebeid earlier this month traveled to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates to discuss preparations for the summit – Albawaba.com
