Syria’s Prime Minister Mohammed Moustafa Mero and an accompanying delegation returned home on Tuesday following three-day visit to Egypt where he headed the Syrian side to the meetings of the Syrian-Egyptian Higher Committee.
Prior to his departure from Cairo, Mero indicated that both sides expressed real desire to establish a joint free trade zone between the two countries and to strengthen developmental planning between them.
According to SANA, he pointed out the directives of President Bashar al-Assad and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak focuses on continuously on accelerating the steps of the required integration between the two countries in all fields.
Earlier, the meetings of the Syrian-Egyptian Higher Committee were wrapped up under the chairmanship of Mero and Egyptian Premier Atef Obeid.
At the final session, Mero delivered a speech in which he stressed that the process of cooperation between the two states is fulfilling the common interests of both countries.
Earlier, Obeid stressed for his part that what has been achieved during the past two days would make the two states take serious steps forward and will add new brick to the standing distinguished relations.
The two sides signed a number of agreement in the economic, social, construction, housing, civil aviation and trade fields. (Albawaba.com)
