Egypt: Political leader arrested after party clash

The third-place finisher in Egypt's presidential elections last year was detained Saturday after his followers clashed with a rival faction of his political party in a fight over party headquarters.

The 10-hour fight, in which 23 people were wounded, was part of a leadership dispute. After Noaman Gomaa finished third in the elections some members of his Wafd Party called to replace him.

Gomaa now joins in custody the second-place finisher, Ayman Nour of the Ghad Party, who is serving a 5-year prison term for forgery.
