Dubai’s tourism sector has widened its overseas activities by setting up a pavilion at the overseas travel fair in London, where it is exhibiting models of four of the emirate's multi-million dollar futuristic projects.

Dubai’s pavilion at the 22nd World Travel Market (WTM) expanded its exceptional participation throughout the 276sq.m site, dedicating all stands to highlighting the emirate’s activities, said the Khaleej Times.

All stands were designed to spotlight the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), Dubai World Cup, the $1.64 billion-Dubai Festival City, Dubai Media City, the 3,500-seat Dubai Convention Center and Dubai 2003, the annual IMF/World Bank meeting that the emirate is hosting in September 2003.

"This is the first time that we have had four models in our stand in any travel exhibition. This will create great interest among the visitors to our pavilion and help educate the public about Dubai's vibrant economy and dynamism of its people," said Ibrahim Ahli, the Dubai tourism department's manager of overseas promotions.

Ahli was quoted by the Dubai-based paper as saying that Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the crown prince of Dubai, has instructed his department to promote the investments projects abroad.

According to the daily, the pavilion is designed to reflect traditional Arab architecture, and displays models of The Palms, Dubai International Airport Expansion, the new Grand Hyatt Hotel and the expansion project of the Royal Mirage hotel.

The models and the stand-alone kiosks of major public and private sector projects have been attracting huge crowds at the four-day exhibition, in which 5,000 exhibitors from 171 countries have taken part – Albawaba.com
