The Information Technology Department (ITD) of Dubai Municipality has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the IT Department of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The agreement seeks to specify a framework of cooperation between the IT departments of the two government entities. The MoU was signed between Abdulmajeed Abdurehman, Assistant Director of IT Department, Dubai Municipality, and Ahmed Bahrozyan, Head of IT Department at the RTA.

The MoU will serve as an arrangement to strengthen cooperation between DM ITD and RTA ITD in the field of IT, technology and technology management. The MoU will guide the partnership and collaboration between the two entities through the sharing of knowledge and information, with the ultimate goal of achieving the strategic objectives of the Government of Dubai.

“The MoU seeks to identify areas where Dubai Municipality and the RTA can share knowledge and expertise within the field of Information Technology, and is consistent with the Dubai Government’s initiatives to foster cooperation among the various government departments,” said Abdurehman “The agreement will immensely benefit both Dubai Municipality and the RTA, and will take the two entities to the next level of IT readiness.”

"The MoU will encourage a bilateral exchange of ideas and will help both the entities refurbish their expertise. In line with the direction of the Dubai Government, such agreements facilitate cooperation and help various government departments excel in their performances", said Bahrozyan. "The IT department of the RTA keeps brainstorming on new programs and software that can be used to speed the work process and thus improve the work efficiency of the entity. We are always eager to extend our full support and share relevant knowledge in the field of IT with other government entities."

Under the MoU, all impacted applications will be migrated from DM to RTA according to an agreed plan. DM will grant RTA access to all impacted applications, folders and data that remain at DM but are owned by RTA business users. Similarly, RTA will grant DM access to systems transferred or implemented at RTA in situations where DM business users require access to information embedded in such systems. The MoU also outlines several other areas of cooperation between DM and RTA.
