Dubai Investment Park, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments, has announced the launch of the 2nd Dubai Investment Park (DIP) Olympiads to be held from February 10th 2007 to March 15th 2007. The Olympiads, organized in cooperation with Yalasports, will see teams from various corporations in DIP competing in 30 competitions held at different locations. The move comes as DIP reaffirms its commitment to a proactive social responsibility agenda, and is aimed at fighting against sedentary corporate lifestyles to increase health awareness in participants.
The Olympiads will see foster competition in 15 sporting categories, including Marathon running, Swimming, Indoor Soccer, Indoor Cricket, Go Karting, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Squash, Table Tennis, Badminton, Bowling, Billiards, Beach Soccer and Volleyball. The number of categories has risen since the Olympiad’s debut last year as the event expands its offerings to cater to the largest possible participant audience.
Omar Al Mesmar, General Manager, Dubai Investments Park said, “The 2007 Olympiads is a social initiative to promote friendly inter company competition and raise health awareness in employees. The event is a progression of Dubai Investments Park’s corporate social responsibility of bettering work-life quality and engaging with society through a spectrum of activities. The initiative is the first event of its kind organized on such as large scale.”
Automobile brand Nissan Middle East is the main sponsor for the Olympiads, with Marmum, Red Bull, Masafi, Mazaj Refreshment, Ebiz and Zenath Real Estate offering Support Sponsorship, and Cedars Jebel Ali Hospital providing Medical Sponsorship. Xtra Pulse is the event’s Media Sponsor, supported by Design Max as Advertising Partner. Support Sponsor Marmum, leading regional supplier of daily products and a subsidiary of Dubai Investments Industries, will also be providing refreshments for participating athletes during the competitions.
“Not only will the event generate sporting goodwill while raising participant profile, it will also highlight the increasing importance of eschewing an unhealthy lifestyle in favor of establishing an active and balanced routine to ward off potential health problems. The Olympiads are in step with Yalasports’ commitment to cater for athletes and clients alike in providing sports management services that help busy individuals commit to a healthy lifestyle,” said Waleed Hamed, Director and Founder, Yalasports.
The Olympiads’ 30 sporting events will be hosted at various prominent health clubs and venues offering Indoor & Outdoor Sports facilities. A grand Closing Ceremony is planned for 15 March 2007, where the winners will be announced and presented with their medals, trophies and plaques.
