Sheikha Fatima, daughter of Dubai Crown Prince and Defense Minister Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will inaugurate the official launch of the ten-day summit on children issues.
The “Dubai Child Summit 2001” will be held from October 15 to 24 under the auspices of the Public Libraries Section of Dubai Municipality.
The Assistant director-general for administrative affairs and services at Dubai municipality, Obeid Salim Al Shamsi was quoted earlier by the local press as saying that the event "is a unique initiative of its kind. It comes as part of future vision of Dubai Municipality that manifests itself in achieving all-round development of all segments of society, with special focus on nurturing the individual. This summit is yet another step forward in paying attention to children.”
Among the highlights of the summit are an exhibition for children and educational specialists showcasing a wide variety of educational and cultural materials.
The summit will also include a variety of children's activities, quiz competitions, art shows and lectures on various topics. Some of the programs are being held in cooperation with the Dubai Educational Zone of the Ministry of Education and Youth.
"Together towards a reading generation " is the slogan of the summit, which is likely to become an annual feature.
The logo represents two children of different ages. The two colors - blue and green - used in the logo represents happiness and joy.
