Dubai eGovernment conducted a two-day workshop on the Balanced Scorecard System recently, in cooperation with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), as part of the Chamber’s plan to introduce the new management system within its departments by 2007.

Abdul Rahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee, Director General of DCCI said: “We would like to thank Dubai eGovernment for the expertise with which they conducted the programme, while explaining to our departmental heads, the manner in which the Balanced Scorecard system can facilitate strategic management and planning within the Chamber.”

The workshop was conducted in Dubai by Dr Okan Geray, Strategic Planning Consultant at Dubai eGovernment, and dealt with the topic, 'Balanced Scorecard: Principles, Case Studies and Implementation Issues'.

“The Chamber will adopt this new management system next year and the workshop was the first step towards the implementation of this plan. The Balanced Scorecard system will help DCCI clarify its vision and strategy, and translate these into action, which in turn will result in improved performance and efficient services to Dubai’s business community,” Al Mutaiwee added.

Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment said: “We are happy to work with DCCI and help in achieving its strategic organisational goals. Dubai eGovernment is pleased to share knowledge and experience with government departments in line with the Dubai Ruler's directives which state that Dubai eGovernment should play the role of the House of Expertise (Bayt Al Khebra) for the benefit of all government departments.”

In Dubai’s lively work environment, where knowledge has become pivotal for advancement and achievement, it is essential for government departments to share and exchange accumulative experience and knowledge to serve the overall goals of the government," added Al-Shair.

A balanced scorecard is a strategic performance measurement system. It includes strategic measures for financial, customer and internal processes for employee learning and growth perspectives.
