ALBAWABA - US President Donald Trump has disclosed details about a previously undisclosed weapon that he says played a critical role in a recent American military operation in Venezuela, marking a rare public reference to advanced U.S. capabilities used in covert actions.

In an interview with the New York Post, Trump said the weapon—referred to as “the Discombobulator”—was deployed during a U.S. raid in Caracas that resulted in the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Washington has long accused Maduro of involvement in drug trafficking and terrorism-related offenses.

According to Trump, the weapon was used to disable Venezuelan air defenses and communications systems during the January 3 operation, allowing U.S. forces to enter the capital without encountering resistance. He claimed that despite the presence of Russian- and Chinese-made missile systems, Venezuelan forces were unable to respond.

“They had the weapons, but nothing worked,” Trump said, adding that U.S. troops completed the mission without suffering any casualties.

While official technical details remain classified, eyewitness accounts from Venezuela described sudden system failures, including radar shutdowns and loss of command-and-control capabilities. Reports also cited the appearance of multiple drones over military positions shortly after the electronic disruption began.

A former member of Maduro’s security detail said defenders experienced physical symptoms after the weapon was deployed, including severe dizziness, nosebleeds, and disorientation, leaving them unable to move or operate equipment. The individual described the experience as resembling a powerful, concentrated sound or energy wave.

U.S. officials have not confirmed the nature of the weapon, but analysts suggest it may involve advanced electronic warfare or directed-energy technology designed to neutralize enemy defenses without conventional firepower.

Maduro, 63, is currently being held in a U.S. federal detention facility in Brooklyn, where he awaits trial on charges linked to narco-terrorism. Venezuelan authorities have not formally acknowledged the weapon’s existence, while Washington has declined to provide further clarification on its capabilities.

The disclosure highlights Washington’s growing reliance on non-kinetic military tools, as well as the expanding role of emerging technologies in modern conflict and regime-targeted operations.
